ZTE demonstrates 1 Gbps LTE at IFA 2017 using Rohde & Schwarz test setup

Rohde & Schwarz and ZTE Co., Ltd., have successfully completed the verification of a 1 Gbps LTE-Advanced (LTE A) modem including 2CC 4×4 MIMO and 1CC 2×2 MIMO/256QAM downlink carrier aggregation. This combination rates up to 1 Gbps. ZTE Co., Ltd., is exhibiting a corresponding demo setup at IFA Berlin, the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances.

The ZTE Gigabit Phone, powered by the Qualcomm(R) Snapdragon 835 mobile platform with an integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem, supports the combination of up to 2CC downlink carriers, on which carriers can be received separately on four transmission layers (4×4 MIMO), and an additional downlink carrier with 2×2 MIMO. The R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester from Rohde & Schwarz has verified the proper functionality of the mobile device.

The R&S CMW500 is the ultimate test platform for simulating and verifying the combination of signaling and end-to-end data transmission on the involved carriers, regardless of the 3GPP-defined band configuration to be tested. For testing LTE in unlicensed spectrum configurations, the downlink carriers could even be set up in the 5 GHz unlicensed spectrum. The R&S CMW500 in its R&S CMWflexx configuration is the first test platform that offers a downlink carrier aggregation solution for up to 5CC 4×4 MIMO, for protocol, RF and data performance verifications up to 2 Gbps throughput.

The test setup including the ZTE Gigabit Phone and the R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester is on display at IFA Berlin from September 1 to 6, 2017, at the ZTE booth (hall 25 / 105).
