Wireless antennas for industrial applications available from Lane Electronics

Lane Electronics is making available a range of antennas from HUBER+SUHNER which have designed specifically to overcome the harsh environments found in industrial applications. According to Kevin Bottomley at Lane, there is an increasing demand across all industrial sectors for wireless communications that work in the cellular or WiFi  frequency ranges.

The antennas include models designed for installation directly on cabinets or access points, omnidirectional or directional antennas for installations mounted away from the access point, vehicle antennas and units for installation on the building wall or mast.

“Although traditional wired communications are still widely used, environmental considerations and even the building structure itself make wireless communications a perfect alternative,” says Kevin Bottomley. “All the antennas we have made available are designed to operate across the temperature range -40°C to +85°C (EN60068) and are water and dustproof to DIN40050/EN60529” he adds.

Typical of the range is the small and compact SOA-2456/360/1/0/V, a stick or stub antenna designed for mounting directly on access points. With a diameter of 22mm and measuring just 57mm in length yet offering a gain of 3.5dBi, it operates across the frequency range 1700 – 5935MHz making it suitable for WiFi, WiMAX and cellular communications.
