Well, in 1998 McMurdo Connectors were acquired by ITW Switches (now part of the ITW Appliance Group) and ITW McMurdo connectors are available now from In2Connect in the UK.
In2Connect UK stock one of the widest ranges of ITW McMurdo “Special” D-sub connectors and connector accessories available anywhere. So much so that as well as our OEM partners, many other distributors Worldwide rely on In2Connect stock to satisfy their clients.
ITW McMurdo ‘Special’ D-Subminiature connectors with cost effective stamped and formed contacts are available in four of the standard shell sizes: 9, 15, 25, and 37 way (50 way is offered from In2Connect’s own-brand). These d-sub connectors are available with solder bucket, straight PC or right angled PC terminations (for example the widely specified SDEX09SNT) and can be fitted with a range of board locks, jackscrews MJS and MJL, female jackposts MD 20418-2, MD 20418L-2, which have always been the backbone of McMurdo’s long established d-sub accessory range.
In2Connect UK also stock popular sizes of ITW McMurdo High density Dee connectors like the HDEX15SNT which has 15 contacts in 3 rows in a standard 9 way shell size and is much used in VGA applications. Increased contact density is provided in the 5 standard tinned and dimpled (EMI/RF shielding) d-sub shell sizes so we can supply 15, 26, 44, 62 and 78 contacts in solder bucket, straight and right angled PCB or crimp contacts. High density d-sub connectors are fully compatible with McMurdos’ standard D-sub hoods and accessories and can therefore lower inventory costs.
In2Connect stock in depth the ITW McMurdo Red Range industrial rack and panel connector range. The McMurdo Red Range is a heavy duty rectangular rack and panel, line to line or panel connector with low insertion and withdrawal forces. Available with 8, 16, 24 or 32 contacts all with a 5A current capability and peak working voltages to 750 Volts rms, the moulded Nylon insulator of these Red Range panel connectors will withstand -50°C to 100°C and can be specified with either barrier or dowel polarisation. Barrier or Dowel polarisation prevents misalignment and damaged contacts in ‘blind’ mating applications. Rugged and heavy duty they are superb in industrial/commercial equipment like bank ATM, vending and office machines, gaming equipment, mobile radios, TV cameras and industrial control applications where larger gauge wires of up to 16AWG are required. In2Connect manufacture in-house their own stamped and formed metal hoods for the ITW McMurdo Red Range connectors and offer a harness assembly service.
In2Connect can supply the ITW Micronector 2 part high density ‘Board-to-Board’, ‘Board-to-Wire’, or ‘Wire-to-Wire’ connector in seven sizes of single row from 2 to 17 ways and in 11 sizes of double row from 4 to 34 ways. The ITW McMurdo Micronector 200 product is a 2mm connector with long proven reliability. The 2mm pitch layout enables a 40 per cent space saving over a 2.54mm connector and is ideal for applications where safety is key, the application is subject to high loads of vibration and shock or the product must operate in harsh environments. An optional spring latch is available to ensure security of interconnection between mated pairs. Originally developed in conjunction with the Harwin Datamate series, these connectors can intermate with known industry equivalents like ATI and Nicomatic. M200 connectors have a well proven history in industrial and MIL/Avionics applications offer a high reliability connection system at COTS pricing.
In2Connect also specialise in the ITW McMurdo range of 0.100” PCB Edgecard connectors. Being modular by design, the body mouldings can be cut to any number of contacts from 5 to 85 single sided, or 10 to 170 in dual row. These 2.54mm pitch modular connectors were originally designed to match the requirements of BS9526-N0001, N0002, N0003 and BT D2552. These connectors prove reliable replacements in fit, form and function to the sadly lamented Thermodata Components ‘Modulo’ and Viking Connectors UK ‘VMA Series’ of 2.54mm pitch Modular connectors and are intermateable with other similar pitch connectors and circuit boards.
