Vishay introduces four ceramic chip antennas for operation at 868 MHz and 915 MHz

Utilizing Vishay”s materials and manufacturing technologies, the new Vitramon chip antennas comply with the MBRAI standard for portable communication while maintaining small outlines of 35 mm x 5 mm x 1.2 mm (VJ5301M868MXBSR and VJ5301M915MXBSR) and 15.5 mm x 10.5 mm x 1.2 mm (VJ5601M868MXBSR and VJ5601M915MXBSR). The devices feature 50 Ω unbalanced tuning interfaces and wide operating temperature ranges from – 40 °C to + 85 °C.

The chip antennas are optimised for medical telemetry and instrumentation, industrial automation, security and home automation systems, gas and water meters, remote sensing and control, and long-range RFID. In these applications, the devices help to lower costs by eliminating the need for large external wipe antennas.

Manufactured in noble metal electrode technology (NME) with a wet build process, the VJ5301M868MXBSR, VJ5301M915MXBSR, VJ5601M868MXBSR, and VJ5601M915MXBSR are able to offer a high-reliability, ceramic-oxide body construction. The RoHS-compliant chip antennas are halogen-free per IEC 61249-2-21 and designed to be assembled onto a PC board using a standard reflow process.
