Southern Manufacturing and Electronics returns to FIVE, Farnborough, from March 21st to 23rd 2017. The show moves from its traditional February position to new dates in early Spring. Organisers hope the retiming to more convenient dates combined with its popular three-day format will further boost visitor numbers to what many now consider to be the best exhibition for for the UK electronics industry.
The event is split more or less equally between Electronics and Manufacturing; In 2016 more than 800 companies exhibited in the 18,000m² venue – larger than 5 halls of the NEC put together. Electronic and electrical components were on the shopping list of nearly 50% of visitors in 2016 – the greatest single visitor interest group – underlining how vital Southern has become as a market for components and OEM parts over its two-decade track record. Electronics assembly and manufacturing was also a high priority for many – over 45% of visitors came to locate service providers within these areas.
With its magnificent selection of suppliers in a single venue, Southern Manufacturing and Electronics makes it easy to keep track of the most recent advances in components and sub-assemblies. The addition of an extra day in 2015 proved remarkably popular, bringing a significant rise in visitor numbers. The three-day format will be retained for 2017, not only making it easier to plan a visit to the show, but also making the event a lot more attractive to exhibitors from a wider geographic area, including continental Europe. For visitors, this offers an outstanding opportunity to meet companies and see products they wouldn’t normally expect to see at a domestic show.
Yamaichi Electronics Deutschland GmbH returns in 2017, showcasing its impressive range of connectors. Also returning for 2017 is Cosel Europe, a leading German manufacturer of AC/DC Power Supplies, DC-DC Converters & EMI Filters. Exhibiting for the first time is Transfer Multisort Elekronik, a heavyweight Central European distributor of electronic products and components. The firm carries over 150,000 product lines in its warehouse in Lodz, Poland, and prides itself on rapid fulfilment throughout Europe.
Complementing the healthy international presence at Southern Electronics are many of the familiar domestic names returning for 2017. Big names such as Lemo UK, Hitaltech UK, Blundell Production Equipment, Sinclair & Rush, Eurocircuits, Easby Electronics, Nexus GB, and Variohm Eurosensor are among the very strong line-up already confirmed. Newcomers for 2017 include Luso Electronics, a long-established supplier of power supplies and associated electronic components. At Southern Electronics the firm will be exhibiting the latest products from SynQor, N2Power, ROAL, HVM Technology, CTC and Elec&Eltek.
These are just a few of the names from the rapidly growing list of firms exhibiting in 2017. To find out more about what’s on offer at the show, the categorised exhibitor listing at www.industrysouth.co.uk allows you to search by both company and product.
Along with the exhibition and demonstration areas, the show’s free seminar programme is undoubtedly a hugely popular attraction. Two programmes run in tandem in two theatres, focusing on manufacturing and electronics respectively, covering discussions on technical innovations, business management, product design and advanced manufacturing techniques, plus updates on business legislation. Free access to this type of high-calibre engineering and business know-how is without a doubt a strong additional reason for electronics professionals to reserve a place.
