The Skills Show set for Birmingham’s NEC next month

The Skills Show, the UK’s largest skills and careers event, is set to take place from 15-17 November 2012 at the NEC in Birmingham. The show provides a unique opportunity for young people to be inspired and to learn more about vocational courses and apprenticeships.

The show is free to members of the public and is supported by some of the leading names in the Electrics and Electronics industry, including FESTO, which is an official sponsor. Businesses will be showcasing their companies, aiming to attract the brightest talent and provide more information about potential careers. The Skills Show will give young people the chance to meet employers and talk with real people about real jobs. A range of interactive activities are also available for visitors to try.

Skills patron and star of Dragon’s Den Theo Paphitis is also supporting The Skills Show to help to raise awareness and recognition of vocational skills and careers.

The ‘Have a Go’ zone offers visitors the chance to get hands on and try a ‘bite-size’ taster of a new skill, trade or occupation – including electronics and electrics. Exhibitors include colleges, universities and learning providers from across the UK, there to talk to your group about the different entry routes into a host of career sectors.

A range of live, hands-on skills competitions, awards and activities are also set to take place at the show, building on the saying that ‘seeing is believing’. Visitors will be inspired by a huge range of vocations in action, as the best of the nation’s young talent perform in the WorldSkills UK Competitions.
