Solid State Supplies signs distribution deal with high-end FPGA specialist Achronix

Solid State Supplies has signed a distribution agreement with Achronix Semiconductor, a specialist in high-performance field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Under the terms of the agreement, Solid State Supplies will represent Achronix as an authorised distributor for the UK and Ireland market.

Achronix is now shipping its high-end Speedster22i HD FPGAs that are built on Intel’s advanced 22nm, 3-D Tri-Gate transistor technology. Speedster22i HD FPGAs consume half the power and are half the cost of competitive high-end FPGAs for targeted high bandwidth applications.

Speedster22i devices are the only FPGAs to include fully integrated hard IP protocol functions, including the entire I/O protocol stack for 10/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet, Interlaken, PCI Express Gen 1/2/3, and memory controllers for 2.133 Gbps DDR3. In other FPGAs, these functions are implemented in the programmable fabric, which consumes up to 500,000 equivalent look-up-tables (LUTs), makes timing closure difficult, and increases the cost and power consumption of the FPGA solution.

In addition the embedded hard IP in Speedster22i FPGAs eliminate the cost of purchasing, integrating and testing these functions as soft IP.

Speedster22i HD devices feature up to 64 channels of embedded 12.75 Gbps SerDes and 16 channels of embedded 28 Gbps SerDes, offering the industry’s highest I/O bandwidth, which is critical for high-end switch and bridging applications.
