RS Components (RS) has boosted its battery portfolio by adding high-performing and environmentally safe Lead Crystal batteries from new supplier partner Betta Batteries. Beginning with 12V units from 7.2Ah to 55Ah capacity, RS will market the Betta Batteries range worldwide, and will add further new products in the future.
Betta Batteries’ patent-protected Lead Crystal technology enables full recovery from repeated deep discharging without risk to battery performance. High-current discharge ability ensures superior performance in applications with high peak energy demand. The batteries are able to operate in temperatures down to -40°C, and can be safely recharged up to 40% faster than lead-acid batteries. Typical service lifetime is 18-20 years at 25°C, while minimal self-discharge allows a shelf life of up to two years with no additional charging.
Lead Crystal batteries are fluid-free, contain little acid, and have no antimony or cadmium. They are non-hazardous for transit, and are the only batteries classified for air freight as normal goods under IATA regulations. The batteries are up to 99% recyclable, and can be processed more safely than conventional lead-acid units. Applicable ISO certifications include ISO 14001 and ISO 9001, and all Betta Batteries from RS Components come with a standard three-year factory guarantee.
With their outstanding performance and environmental credentials, the batteries are ideal for back-up power in telecom or computing systems, renewable-energy storage, or e-mobility applications such as wheelchairs and golf carts. They also have numerous applications in sectors such as petrochemical and marine industries, defence, healthcare, and factory or office equipment requiring an affordable, durable, safe and robust power source.
