“Renesas caused a stir at AutoSens Detroit with a combination of an exciting new approach to collaboration and engagement as they launched their new autonomy-focused processors,” said Rob Stead, managing director of Sense Media Group, conference director of AutoSens. “The company has created numerous exciting semiconductors for use in the automotive and particularly for ADAS fields, and we are pleased to see these efforts recognised with our Award for Hardware Innovation.”

Part of the international AutoSens vehicle perception conference and exhibition, the awards, running for the first time in 2017, were judged by an expert panel drawn from OEMs, Tier 1s and Tier 2s, industry organisations and academia to assure a fair valuation process. One of the judging panel commented: “The judging panel were impressed by Renesas’ continuing and steadily increasing investment in the autonomous processing space, particularly in their latest processors which offer impressive performance to power consumption ratios.”

“We are delighted to have been selected as winner of the AutoSens Hardware Innovation Award. The award recognises our commitment to deliver open, innovative and trusted solutions for ADAS and automated driving,” said Jean-Francois Chouteau, vice president of Renesas Global ADAS Centre. “Our aim at Renesas is to contribute to safe and progressive autonomous-driving vehicles. Under the Renesas autonomy Platform, Renesas delivers a trusted scalable hardware lineup that accelerates development of automotive systems, enabling faster-time-to-market and room for creativity.”

To contribute to the upcoming autonomous-driving era, Renesas has been offering industry-leading ADAS and automated driving solutions as part of its groundbreaking Renesas autonomy Platform. The platform leverages Renesas’ long-standing experience and expertise in the automotive market as the leading automotive semiconductor supplier, offering end-to-end solutions from secure cloud connectivity and sensing to vehicle control.
