productronica will celebrate 40 years with new format

productronica, which takes place from November 10th – 13th, is a trade fair for electronics development and production and in its 40th anniversary year, the event will set new standards with a number of exciting innovations including IT2Industry – a show within a show. Around 1200 exhibitors will showcase their products and services at the four-day event held every two years in Munich.

The electronics production industry is constantly evolving and changing manufacturing requirements, together with the needs of tomorrow’s growth market sectors, must be taken into account when planning a trade fair to showcase such a wide ranging industry. To meet these challenges, productronica has worked closely with its exhibitors and trade associations to ensure the exhibition continues to reflect the industry and meet its exact requirements.

As a result, the nineteen different segments that previously made up productronica have been restructured into five “clusters”, a new structure that will give visitors to productronica 2015 an overview of the entire electronics manufacturing value chain. This new structure is also reflected in the hall assignments where individual segments are bundled more clearly making attending the fair more efficient than ever. The new “clusters” are as follows:

PCB & EMS cluster

·         PCB and other circuit carrier manufacturing

·         Electronic manufacturing services (EMS)

SMT cluster

·         Component mount technology

·         Soldering and joining technology for PCBs

·         Test and measurement, quality assurance

·         Product finishing

·         Production subsystems

·         Production logistics and material-flow technology

Semiconductor cluster

·         Semiconductor manufacturing

·         Display manufacturing, LEDs and discrete devices

·         Photovoltaics manufacturing

·         Micro-/nano-production

·         Cleanroom technology

·         Materials processing

Cables, Coils & Hybrids cluster

·         Technologies for cables processing and connectors

·         Coilware production

·         Hybrid component manufacturing

Future Markets cluster

·         IT to Production, Industry 4.0

·         Technologies for batteries and electrical energy storage

·         Organic and printed electronics

·         3D printing, additive manufacturing

productronica 2015 will also feature several special events including the IPC Hand-soldering Competition, the Cleanroom Event Stage and a travelling exhibit on electromobility as well as Electronics.Production.Augmented – a show which the organisers hope will make product innovations in the five new clusters an experience to remember. Its aim is to present

Industry 4.0 from a new perspective and make it possible for visitors to visually see previously hidden procedures that machines and workpieces have to negotiate.

For the first time, IT2Industry, the trade fair and open conference for intelligent, digitally networked working environments, is being held at the same time as productronica. The industrial Internet of Things is changing the prerequisites for production and manufacturing. The products and services that will be presented at IT2Industry at the same time as productronica, demonstrate the link between classic manufacturing and Industry 4.0.

productronica’s opening event, the CEO Roundtable on Cyber security: Challenges for the Manufacturing Industry, will bring together leading personalities from the industrial, scientific and political sectors to discuss questions such as How  can I gain insights into our security status? and How relevant is cyber security to companies that don”t think they have highly sensitive data? Besides focusing on office IT (attacks by viruses and malware), specific aspects of cyber security in smart factories will also be examined.
