Panasonic SD and Micro SD cards improve reliability and performance in industrial applications

TTi is making available new Panasonic SD and Micro SD cards that include advanced features to meet the requirements of industrial applications. Panasonic has improved controller performance to increase both reliability and product life and the new FX, P and KC Series SD and Micro SD product ranges feature SLC (Single Level Cell) and MLC (Multi Level Cell) type NAND flash which significantly improves robustness and performance in comparison to products which use TLC (Triple Level Cell) NAND flash.

They suit many devices for automotive, medical, factory automation and similar markets.

Additional features include improved static wear levelling, which controls how data is written to the card, maximising card life with uniform programming and erasing. The Bit error auto refresh feature enables the card to withstand repeated recording operations. Data is protected by Panasonic”s unique algorithms which minimise data damage in the event of a power interruption and should an error be generated, the controller recovers the data, restores it to its condition prior to the error and prevents errors from reaching the SD memory are.

The Panasonic FX Series SD/SDHC memory cards have SLC type NAND flash memory and suit industrial applications that need frequent writes of large amounts of data, such as security cameras, broadcast equipment, factory automation and drive recorders. They are available in three different capacities and specifications: 2 GB SD (Class 6, up to 22MB/s Read and 20MB/s Write); 4GB SDHC (Class 10, UHS-1, up to 90MB/s Read and 40MB/s Write); and 8GB SDHC (Class 10, up to 95MB/s Read and 80 MB/s Write).

The Panasonic P Series SDHC type cards feature MLC NAND flash and are available in three different capacities: 4GB, 8GB and 16GB. All meet Class 4 speed specifications and have a maximum read speed of 22MB/s and a write speed of 12MB/s.

Panasonic Micro SD format cards with MLC NAND flash are designed the KC Series and are available in three capacities – 4GB, 8GB and 16GB. Classified UHS-1 and Class 2 they have a read speed of up to 45MB/s and a write speed of up to 6MB/s.
