Panasonic Industry Europe expands European distribution centre in Pfaffenhofen

Panasonic Industry Europe has just expanded its European logistics centre to create an even closer link to the company’s customers in Pfaffenhofen, near Munich. The modernisation of the facility will be celebrated during a small ceremony at the site on 10 August.

Gerhard Reiprich, project head and senior general manager Logistic Operations at Panasonic, said: “This is a decisive step towards an automated, effective and state-of-the-art warehouse. Just one year ago, we had to manually remove small parts from racks. It was a work-intense and inefficient process.”

Johannes Spatz, managing director of Panasonic Industry Europe

Johannes Spatz, managing director of Panasonic Industry Europe, added: “The investment of about three million euros represents the logical next step in our effort to increase our efficiency in the European market. Since we repositioned the company last October, our divisions have been working even more intensively to provide our customers in all areas with new solutions. The latest automation of the European logistics centre will clear the way for further integration, a change that will offer a clear benefit for the customer and provide maximum service delivered at optimal costs.”

Panasonic Industry offers a broad portfolio that ranges from electronic components, devices and modules to complete solutions and production facilities for assembly lines in a large number of industries. In the past, the logistics centre was primarily used to store components of Panasonic Electric Works Europe. By the end of the year, it will offer machinery replacement parts from the Factory Solutions Division throughout Europe. A planned hall addition may offer space for the components and systems of other divisions at some point in future.
