New interactive and self-service displays from Advantech

Advantech has announced new UTC Self-Service and Interactive Signage Terminals. With choices of 15.6”, 21.5” and 32” TFT LCD displays, the new UTC series with the 4th Generation Intel Core U-series (i5/Celeron) processor combines improved levels of performance with lower power consumption.

The system has been designed to fit comfortably on shelves and countertops and is suitable for in-store displays. The multifunctional terminal is able to serve a wide variety of applications including retail, hospitality, self-service, public service, healthcare, education, entertainment and corporate use. Interactive technology gives customers access to dynamic, real-time information, serving them better and keeping businesses competitive by allowing them to present branded content 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The new UTC E-series has a slim profile with a pure-flat display and operates noiselessly thanks to its fanless design. It can be customised to meet specific customer requirements and support the choice of embedded operating systems including Linux and Windows 7/8.

The new UTC E series “true flat” touchscreen is IP65-compliant and features 4th generation Intel Core processor technology, combining low power consumption with improved levels of performance. The new micro-architecture is capable of delivering up to 15 percent better performance than the previous generation. Turbo Boost 2.0 brings dynamic control of performance and power, allowing real-time, dynamic rendering of content for applications, superior performance for gaming, and HD video content delivered exactly when and where needed. With high-quality HDMI and VGA output, this scalable network-ready appliance is both reliable and easy to install.

Many retailers struggle with the question of how to provide a seamless customer experience. The real challenge lies in selecting the right tool for the job. The new UTC E-series provcides custom modular features which can be added to tailor the system to meet the demands of a variety of applications such as digital signage, interactive e-concierge, product showcasing, navigation and reservations. The touchscreen interface can be enhanced for more durability with different coatings (Anti-Glare/Anti-Reflection) and it also provides multi-touch capability.

The newest Corning Gorilla Glass with its “antimicrobial” technology provides protection, and a clean, tough touchscreen. Other options include WiFi, MSR, RFID, smart-card reader, barcode scanner and video capture. These options are designed to allow integrators to adapt UTC E-series to a broad base of clientele.
