Murata achieves IEC 60601 MOOP 3rd edition medical safety certification for 120W power supply

Murata’s MVAB120 series of single output 120 Watt AC-DC power supplies now complies with the third edition of the EN/UL/IEC60601 and ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 third edition MOOP (means of operator protection) medical safety standard. With this certification, the MVAB120 series can now be used for any non-patient-contact medical application in addition to being suitable for use in networking, industrial automation, and test/measurement equipment as covered by safety standard EN/UL/IEC60950.

The low profile open frame MVAB120 series measures just 101.6 x 50.8 x 35.8 mm (2 x 4 x 1.41 inches) and satisfies the 1U height constraints of this industry standard footprint.

The high efficiency design, typically up to 91%, of the MVAB120 ensures that waste heat is kept to a minimum and the units are capable of delivering up to 75 W using convection cooling only. Just 250 LFM forced airflow is required for the supply to operate at the 120 W full load output.

The series comprises five single output models covering the popular nominal outputs from 12 to 48 VDC. Accommodating the full universal range of input voltages, from 90 – 264 VAC, the MVAB120 also meets the EU PFC directive for active power factor correction.

Suiting most operating environments, the MVAB120 series can deliver full load from -10 to + 50 degrees C, and are capable of start-up from temperatures as low as -20 degrees C.

Output protection features include overcurrent, overvoltage and overtemperature.
