Mouser reports strong growth in Europe as it unveils additional web services

Mouser Electronics has been able to report strong and continued growth for 2012 in Europe and expects to see further progress in 2013 despite on-going economic uncertainty, Europe’s continuing debt crisis and China’s recent economic slowdown. Sales to date in Europe are up 20%.

“With continuing innovation revolutionising the electronics industry, we believe demand for the newest semiconductors, optoelectronics, and low power, greener solutions will continue to spearhead new design in Europe and elsewhere around the globe. Mouser has positioned itself as the leader in introducing new products and technologies first, and we plan to continue to lead the industry in this area,” explained Mark Burr-Lonnon, Mouser Electronics’ Vice President of EMEA Business. “We are optimistic about next year and plan to continue our investment in growing our business in the European market.”

To date in Europe, Mouser has posted sales gains of 20% overall, with France up 23%, Spain up 20%, the Benelux up 54%, U.K. up 19%, Italy up 21%, and Germany up 16%. These 2012 figures build upon Mouser’s 2010-2011 growth of 43%, seeing three-year sales figures up an impressive 450%. In addition, Mouser.com has accounted for 75% of all new accounts and close to 50% of sales volume, marking a three-year increase in European customers of more than 260%.

Extending its web presence further Mouser Electronics has introduced two new websites – the Newest Products and Applications & Technologies sites – on Mouser.com in order to make the research process quicker and easier. The Newest Products site highlights the latest new products and looks to help seed the market with the latest products. It means that European engineers and buyers can now view products by category and by manufacturer, as well as introduction date.

The other new site looks at Applications & Technologies. Engineers at the beginning of the design cycle start off at a system level, rather than components. This brand new site highlights solutions based on applications and technologies, and provides block diagram navigation to easily view recommended products for specific system functions.

Commenting Kevin Hess, Mouser Vice President of Technical Marketing, said “The rationale behind our Newest Products and Applications & Technologies sites is to educate, help narrow the list of products, and find the right products for their design projects. Our goal is to help transform knowledge into design know- how. Mouser wants to help engineers and buyers make more efficient use of their time. Mouser.com is set to help them do exactly that – quickly and easily.”

In addition, Mouser.com plays a big role as a leading resource for engineers for product information, new technologies and applications as well as a number of useful, time-saving tools such as MouserMobile for smartphones and tablets, an advanced search accelerator, and an all-new intelligent Bill of Materials (BOM) tool.

Another key driver behind the company’s growth in Europe is the establishment of nine local European Customer Support Centres. Having a European headquarters in Munich has enabled the company to support market-driven operations when it comes to launching campaigns that better meet local needs and in fostering closer working partnerships with Mouser’s expanding network of European suppliers. It has also been the key benefit in being able to deliver best-in-class localized service – providing customers with personalized technical support and service in 17 different languages and currencies.
