Molex Incorporated and Innovasic have announced a strategic cooperation agreement focusing on PROFINET technologies. Molex software development kits (SDKs) are used by many manufacturers looking for connectivity solutions and the company offers PROFINET IO-Controller and IO-Device SDKs based on ANSI ‘C’ source code. Innovasic designs and produces ASIC solutions for industrial networking.
Molex and Innovasic have developed a completely new dedicated solution to provide PROFINET Isochronous Real Time (IRT) capability for manufacturers looking to implement automation devices such as field devices, remote I/O, drives and field instruments.
Both companies have more than 20 years of expertise respectively in the development of industrial communication solutions and ASICs and both are actively involved with industrial trade organisations, such as PROFIBUS/PROFINET International (PI). The announcement regarding greater cooperation is intended to increase both company’s abilities to provide solutions to a worldwide customer base.
Molex manufactures and supplies a range of connectivity, power and communication products designed for a variety of protocols. “The cooperation with Innovasic will enable us to better serve our customers and directly aid our continuing development of industry-leading industrial communication technologies, products and software,” explained Damien Leterrier, director industrial communications, Molex.
Innovasic, located in Albuquerque, NM, provides silicon and software solutions for industrial connectivity that looks to simplify the task of supporting sophisticated real time Industrial Ethernet.
“By partnering with Molex on the Profinet IRT stack implementation, Innovasic has been able to develop a complete embedded solution that will now provide isochronous real time support for our Profinet customers. This is just the beginning of a whole new range of Industrial Ethernet connectivity solutions to be offered by Innovasic,” said Tom Weingartner, Innovasic’s VP of Marketing.
