Luso introduces Qi-certified power coils for safe inductive charging of portable consumer devices

Luso Electronics has announced the availability of wireless power transmitter and receiver coil modules from Elec & Eltek (E&E), a manufacturer of magnetic components. These small, thin and highly efficient magnetic-induction-coil modules have been designed for use in wireless charging applications for portable electronic devices.

There is growing market demand for the ease and safety of wireless power systems for the inductive charging of batteries in devices such as tablets, smartphones, music/video players, cameras, game controllers, laptops and many other mobile and portable consumer equipment.

Importantly, these E&E coils are compliant with the Qi® interface-standard specifications, which have been developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). The Qi standard enables inductive electrical power transfer over distances of up to 4cm. Backed by more than 100 industry-leading companies, the Qi standard enables design freedom, product differentiation and guaranteed wireless-charging interoperability.

Two new ranges of transmitter and receiver coil modules are available offering the 5W low-power transfer and also the 15W medium-power extension to the WPC standard. Available in various operating temperature ranges, these safe and reliable modules are RoHS compliant and offer low resistance and low temperature rise on operation. Various magnetic inductance version are available, in addition to various coil shapes and dimensions available for custom designs.

The full range of magnetic-module wireless-power-charging solutions from Elec & Eltek is available for purchase from Luso Electronics for evaluation and qualification.
