Luso Electronics Distribution, the UK and Ireland representative for the SynQor range of power supplies and related components, has announced the availability of VITA 62 compliant VPX power supplies in 3U- and 6U-high ruggedized packages designed for high performance computing applications in the harsh environmental and demanding electrical conditions of military/aerospace applications as well as communications and industrial industries.
With internal conduction cooling and high-speed backplane connectors, the VPX range of DC/DC power supplies support a nominal 28V DC input (full input voltage range is from 18 to 40V) and implement SynQor”s field-proven MilQor Mil-COTS DC/DC converters. Compliant with VITA 62, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810G standards for 28V input voltage systems, the VPX range of power supplies can deliver up to 1000W and up to six outputs with a typical efficiency of 91%.
The VPX range comprises three products: the 3U version provides six standard VITA 62 outputs with a maximum total output power of 500W over the full temperature range; there are two available 6U options, which provide five standard VITA 62 outputs. The 1000W 6U version has a standard input filter and the 800W 6U version has an advanced filter that also provides input transient suppression, reverse polarity protection, inrush current limit and surge protection. All products in the range include over/under input voltage, short-circuit and over-temperature protection as standard.
The main outputs of both the 3U and 6U versions offer active current sharing through a backplane connection for paralleling in higher power applications. The auxiliary outputs can also be paralleled for redundancy, but do not feature current sharing.
Qualified to the most stringent levels of VITA 47 (Environments, Design and Construction, Safety, and Quality for Plug-In Units), the VPX supplies are available in two separate screening levels with conformal coating as an additional option. The operating temperature range for the VPX power supplies is -40 to +85 degrees C (at the wedge locks).
