Local Chamber honors global distributor for economic and community impact

Mouser Electronics, the global authorised distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, received the 2014 Outstanding Large Business of the Year Award from the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce at the Chamber’s 43rd Annual Awards dinner last week.  Mouser is Mansfield’s largest private employer, with over 1,300 people at its global headquarters in Mansfield, and today the company pumps more than $835m into the local economy every year.

The Outstanding Large Business of the Year Award is given to a Chamber member that promotes and supports the business climate and local business development. The business should exemplify leadership with employees and clients and exhibit outstanding customer service. This business should also support the Chamber through participation and financial contribution.  “I’d like to thank the Chamber for this special recognition. It is a great honor for Mouser and every employee,” said Glenn Smith, Mouser Electronics’ president and CEO. “It is especially gratifying to know that our efforts are appreciated by the city we call home.”

In addition to its support of the Chamber, Mouser also is an avid supporter of the Mansfield community, particularly of educational initiatives that promote STEM-based learning of science, technology, engineering and math. The company contributes locally to the Ben Barber Career Tech Academy, Mansfield Independent School District Education Foundation, Mansfield Public Library, and the Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department.

The Outstanding Large Business Award is the latest in a string of awards presented to Mouser in recent years. Those honors include proclamations from the City of Mansfield, as well as a State Proclamation from the Texas Senate, in recognition of Mouser’s economic, civic and educational contributions and for being named the 2012 Employer of Excellence for Tarrant County.
