Lantronix launches xPico module for ethernet connectivity

The device boasts a chip-sized footprint of 24mm x 16.5mm and is a compact and complete networking solution that will enable Ethernet connectivity on virtually any device with a serial interface.  With its embedded device server application, Web server, and full IP stack, xPico allows seamless remote access to device data – simplifying the design integration process and providing robust connectivity.

Commenting Jeff A. Osheroff, President of Zonex Systems, California-based manufacturer of energy management and zone control systems, said, “Over the past year, we’ve seen tremendous demand from our customers for an Ethernet-based, embedded solution with the power and flexibility of xPico.  As such, we anticipate designing this product into our entire product offering.”

As the world’s smallest embedded device server, xPico can be utilised in designs typically intended for chip solutions.  The difference is, with xPico there is no need for software development – translating into a much lower development cost and faster time-to-market.  Key features include: a chip-sized footprint of 24mm x 16.5mm; a complete ‘Device Server Application’ with full IP stack and web server; a serial data rate of up to 921 Kbps; 256-bit AES encryption and an operating environment at extended temperatures: -40° to +85° C.
