Lane Electronics acquires connector distribution business from bf1systems

Lane Electronics, a supplier of electrical and electronic interconnection products, has added to its capabilities within the motorsport sector with the acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, of the distribution business of the leading motorsport component and systems specialist bf1systems.

Part of the privately owned Lodge Group, which also includes the UK connector manufacturer Weald Electronics, Lane Electronics supplies mostly from stock a very wide selection of connector products from a broad range of manufacturers and had itself established a dedicated motorsport division at the end of 2012.

bf1systems is a provider of electrical, electronic and composite solutions to the Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace and Marine Industries and its components have featured in championship winning vehicles across all top level motorsport disciplines as well as on many of the World’s most prestigious road cars.

As with the bf1systems distribution business that has just been acquired, Lane’s Motorsport Division is centred on the Souriau 8STA compact circular connector family which is used extensively throughout all levels of motorsport in applications such as engine control units, communications equipment, data acquisition systems and harnesses.

Recognised by many as a the market leading connector for use in the harsh working environments found throughout motorsport, the 8STA connectors have been designed to meet the performance, size and weight requirements that are demanded by the motorsport industry. As an assembling distributor for Souriau, Lane Electronics is able to supply these connectors and connector systems to meet the exact specification and timeframe required by its customers.
