L2Tek deal with Valens brings dramatic reduction in HD video transmission costs to the UK market

Manufacturers’ representative and distributor of components and sub-assemblies for professional video and high-speed communications systems, L2TEK, has announced a UK representation and distribution deal with Valens Semiconductor, a provider of semiconductor products for the distribution of uncompressed HD multimedia content and inventor of HDBaseT technology.

Valens chipsets converge its 5Play feature set – HD video, audio, Internet, power and control signals, to enable HDBaseT transmission over standard, low-cost Cat5e/6 cables with RJ45 connectors. They provide transmission at distances up to 100m and enable lower cost, simpler networks to be created with less cable clutter, simplified installation and greater reliability. Only one cable with a connector at each end is needed for all five circuits. Valens chipsets can be used to create networks based on a star topology or nodes can be daisy-chained for scalability. The devices are suited to consumer, commercial and industrial applications.

Commenting on the agreement, L2Tek director, Mark Scott-South, said, “HDBaseT is simply the most cost-effective and flexible technology for HD video deployment and Valens has succeeded in achieving technical and commercial leadership in this field over the last few years. There is an enormous market opportunity for these devices in point-to-point connectivity, whole home networking, digital signage, video cameras and hospitality applications. We’re looking forward to helping Valens expand their European business and assisting customers to ensure they get the maximum benefit from the technology.”

Eliran Toren, VP Sales of Valens added, “L2Tek has demonstrated great expertise and understanding of the professional video market. Most importantly, the team understands what customers need and how to support them in achieving their design goals. This partnership is going to have a very positive impact on the UK professional video market, and will be a successful one for everyone involved.”
