Keynote speakers from UK government to present at new Solders Technology Event

Soldertec has announced that there will be two keynote speakers from the UK government’s Green Economy Team who will be presenting at the ‘Tomorrow’s Solders’ conference. The keynote speakers will be addressing the changes introduced by the EC recasts of the RoHS and WEEE Directives and will be discussing what implications this has on the electronics sector. The event, which will be chaired by Dr. Jeremy Pearce, ITRI Technology Team Leader, will be held at the Copthorne Hotel, near Windsor on the 5th- 6th March 2013.

The two keynote speakers, who are both from the UK government’s Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) Green Economy Team, are: Iain Nicol, who will be presenting on RoHS, and Steve Andrews, who will be speaking about the WEEE Directives. They will be able to provide an update on legislative and enforcement issues due to the recasts of these EC Directives. The second key presentation on the results of the Solders Roadmap 2013, will be given by Dominic Lodge, ITRI Solders Technology Manager.

“We are very excited about this event because the authoritative keynote speakers will be providing expert insights into the requirements of the RoHS and WEEE directives,” commented Dr Jeremy Pearce, ITRI Technology Team Leader. “We have a high calibre of other speakers which will be announced shortly; and thus, this will be a unique opportunity for delegates to hear first-hand the latest soldering technology challenges and solutions for tomorrow’s electronics industry.”
