HUBER+SUHNER expands ISO 6722 shielded cable family to meet automotive market requirements

To be better placed to meet the requirements of the automotive market, HUBER+SUHNER has expanded its RADOX family of shielded power and battery cables. Fully compliant with ISO 6722, the company now offers the intermediate cross-sections 8, 12, 20, 30, 40 and 60 mm2 which, in addition to the standard sizes, makes HUBER+SUHNER one of the first manufacturers to offer the entire cross-section set from 1.5 mm2 up to 150mm2.

According to HUBER+SUHNER, users have previously been forced to use cables with a larger than needed cross-section if the appropriate intermediate cross-section was unavailable. Since a more suitable cross-section now exists for every application, users can now save crucial space, weight and cost.

Shielded RADOX power cables are particularly suitable for high-voltage applications in hybrid and electric vehicles where particularly high currents flow. With the increasing need to improve engine efficiency, lower power consumption and reduce size, temperatures ranging from -70°C to +200°C are commonplace within engine compartments. Wiring installations can also be exposed to a variety of fluids including diesel and petrol, oils, battery acids, salt water and cleaning agents as well as humidity.

Thanks to electron-beam cross-linked insulation, RADOX high-voltage cables guarantee durable and safe connections. They are designed for high and low temperatures and feature excellent abrasion resistance. They are also resistant to weathering, ozone, moisture and chemicals.

In addition, the cable shielding prevents interference with the sensors and electronics within the vehicle space and HUBER+SUHNER also offers the entire product family as unshielded versions.

RADOX high-voltage cables from HUBER+SUHNER are also very easy to strip, making them ideal for automatic processing where it is important that the cable can be cut to size quickly with a low error rate.
