HUBER + SUHNER unveil rugged, omnidirectional roof-top antennas for trains

HUBER+SUHNER has announced what it describes as a significant addition to its SENCITY Rail antenna family with the introduction of two MIMO antennas designed to provide high speed data and communication links between trains and the fixed telecoms infrastructure.

These antennas are intended for system integrators and rolling stock manufacturers looking to incorporate high-speed data hungry applications including on-board internet, fast mobile communications and communication based train control (CBTC).

These omnidirectional SENCITYRail 2×2 MIMO antennas are part of the proven SENCITY Rail antenna portfolio from HUBER+SUHNER and will support the frequency range 698 MHz to 6 GHz which includes LTE, 2G and 3G for all mobile communication networks worldwide, as well as WiFi 2.4 and 5GHz. There are two variants available – one with integrated GPS/LNA and one without.

Consisting of two broadband radiating elements in a single compact housing, the new antennas have been designed with the same mounting footprint as all existing SENCITY RAIL units allowing users to easily upgrade to 2×2 MIMO.

As with all SENCITY antennas, they feature an extremely robust design to survive the harshest rail environments and meet the requirements of EN 50155 and the fire safety requirements of EN 45545-2. They are also protected against exposure to high voltage and current in the event of overhead line failure.
