The 1455 Series of extruded aluminium instrument cases from Hammond Electronics are primarily designed to house single or multiple PCBs, mounted horizontally into internal slots in the body of the case, but they are also suitable for housing any small electronic, electrical or pneumatic components. The units are available with clear, black, red or blue anodised finish for good resistance to wear and tear. The cases are available either with two aluminium end panels, available in four colours or with two flat ABS plastic end panels. Optional ABS plastic bezels are available in five colours. All sizes of the 1455 are supplied complete with fixings and self-adhesive rubber feet; 10 sizes of flanged brackets that enable the unit to be mounted directly to a shelf or wall are also available as an optional accessory.
There are 28 sizes in the family ranging from 60 x 45 x 25mm to 220 x 165 x 52mm; all but the four smallest sizes have a removable belly plate in the body to allow access to the PCB when it is in situ. Many of the larger sizes are sized to accept standard or extended depth single Eurocards and the taller units accept multiple PCBs with 11 slot positions available.
All units can be supplied factory modified with machining and silk screening to the user’s specification; AutoCAD and PDF dimensioned drawings for every size can be downloaded from here.
Variants of the 1455 enclosure are available for more specialist requirements. The heavy duty watertight 1457 offers IP65 sealing; the 1457-EMI offers enhanced EMC capability for electrically noisy environments and the 1457HD provides heat removal for high power uses.
