E Preston (Electrical) Ltd is a traditional family business.  We were established in 1980 as a specialist distributor of switches and electrical components.  Beginning with only three people and three franchises the company quickly grew and has maintained steady growth year on year for over 35 years.  We now have over 50 franchises and supply hundreds of thousands of components, many of which we stock in our custom built premises in Cheshire.

Our customers range from sole traders to major PLCs, and are represented in every sector from transport, medical and defence to fitness products, white label goods and renewable energy solutions.  The reason for our continued success has been our emphasis on the customer.  What you do, what you need and how your business works is important to us.  We try to understand our customer’s needs and challenges through building personal relationships with buyers and engineers so that we can offer a proactive service that will help the design and manufacturing process run as smoothly as possible.

We have a wealth of technical knowledge and experience but our true expertise is with our customers.  Each customer has direct access to our internal sales team and a dedicated account manager, who can offer help and assistance when needed.  We also have a number of field sales representatives covering all of the UK who visit customers regularly to offer business support, technical advice and new technology solutions.

We can also offer flexible supply chain solutions such as blanket purchase orders, framework agreements (where we can fix prices/quantities for a period of time), forward orders with multiple drops if needed, buffer stocks and call-off orders.  We will hold stock and customer specific inventory so that our customers don’t need to carry stock, and are not adversely affected by long manufacturers lead times, helping to mitigate risk and minimise production delays.  Because we are an independent distributor we can offer similar alternative products from our extensive range of components, helping customers find solutions to problems and also newer technologies for model upgrades and new designs.  We can also provide free samples and onsite technical support as needed.

Our ordering process is simple and can be done over the telephone with our internal sales team, by fax, email or online.  Stock items are dispatched same day and in most cases delivered to our customers within 24 hours.  Unlike many distributors and wholesalers, we have no minimum order values and we do not impose minimum order quantities for stock items.

Our eshop ( is more than just an online catalogue where you can view products, check stock levels and print off data sheets, etc.  Customers who have an account can log in to view special prices, print off copy statements and invoices, make payments, and view order history.  Your online account is also linked to your credit account so orders made online can benefit from your normal credit terms.  With more products and features being added daily it really is an invaluable tool and allows customer’s access to our company 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
