Fine Lightning Protector from HUBER+SUHNER protects radio-based systems

A Fine Lightning Protector, specifically designed for application in the frequency band 5.5 to 400MHz, has been unveiled by the EMP Group at HUBER+SUHNER. The 3403.17.0069 is suitable for protecting radio-based systems with an RF CW power of less than 100W. It also significantly expands the company’s current product range of fine lightning protectors which is focused around the 650MHz to 2.5GHz band.

According to HUBER+SUHNER, the new IP67 Rated lightning protector features a combination of high current handling and low residual pulse which makes it suitable for protecting IF Down cable in point to point microwave links, as well as applications in ground based air navigation, military, marine, aviation and amateur radio systems.

Key features include a permanently installed, non-replaceable gas discharge tube, a small form factor coupled with a weight of just 93g and full compliance to IEC 61643-21. Ease of installation is helped by the fact that remote and masthead equipment can be powered via coaxial cable eliminating the need for a separate power cable.

The 3403.17.0069 comes in an all-weather aluminium housing with N jack connectors. Operating temperature range is -40ºC to +85ºC.
