Euroquartz shows new quartz crystals and oscillators at electronica exhibition

AS9100 approved frequency control specialist, Euroquartz were exhibiting at Electronica (8-11 November 2016, Messe, Munich) where it was showing its latest quartz crystal and oscillator products. The company’s most recent introductions include 14-pin DIL (dual-in-line) military specification oscillators, ultra-miniature low power oscillators, low profile differential output crystal oscillators and micro electromechanical system (MEMS) filters that are ideal for embedded design applications. A new range of 8-pin DIL military specification oscillators were launched at Electronica and the company is publishing a new 8-page quick reference oscillator guide for design engineers.

The company’s latest military specification crystal oscillators are designed for use in applications that require high reliability. Housed in industry standard 14-pin DIL packages, the new EQXO-1000BMK and EQXO-3000BMK clock oscillators incorporate a custom-designed quartz crystal and a CMOS/TTL compatible hybrid circuit on a ceramic substrate.

Manufactured using the latest advances in production technology, these oscillators are capable of achieving tight frequency calibration tolerance and high stability over a wide temperature range. Frequency range is from 200kHz to 200MHz with calibration tolerance of ±30ppm at 25°C and frequency tolerance of ±100 to ±50ppm over the full military temperature range from -55 to +125°C (±100 to ±30ppm over industrial temperature range from -40 to +85°C). Half size versions – EQXO-2000BMK – based on 8-pin DIL packages were launched at Electronica.

Ideal for aerospace, defence and other applications where high-reliability clock oscillators are required, the new EQXO-1000BMK, EQXO-2000BMK and EQXO3000BMK crystal oscillators can be screened to MIL-O-55310F, class B if required.

Also on show was a new range of low power ultra-miniature quartz crystal oscillators from Statek designed for use in a wide range of applications including military communications, battery operated devices, navigation and GPS, wireless telemetry, hand-held instrumentation, patient monitoring and infusion pumps. Hermetically sealed in a high reliability 4-pad ceramic surface mount housing, the new oscillator offers fast start-up of 1ms typical, tight calibration tolerance of ±25ppm and high shock resistance of 10,000g typical.

Available at frequencies from 1.0 to 8.5MHz and available for operation over the military temperature range from -55 to +125°C, the new CXOLP series oscillators feature low current consumption of 55µA at 1MHz making them ideal in low power hand-held products. Frequency stability over temperature specifications are ±10 to ±50ppm for commercial (-10 to +70°C), ±20 to ±100ppm for industrial (-40 to +85°C) and ±40 to ±100ppm for military. Output load is 5pF (CMOS) and supply voltage is 1.8 to 3.3V ±10 per cent.

New low-profile, differential output crystal oscillators (DFXO) from Statek, are designed for use in applications requiring low jitter and ultra-high frequency differential outputs in a small footprint. Available in frequencies from 20 to 300MHz (fundamental mode), the new DFXO is available in standard 6-pad 5 x 7mm surface mount packages measuring just 1.75 or 1.85mm high depending on terminations. Designed for operation over the temperature range -40 to +105°C, the new Statek DFXO offers LVDS, LVPECL or CMOS outputs with low phase noise (-148dBc/Hz at 100kHz) and typical integrated timing jitter of 0.3ps (both for LVDS output).

Euroquartz’s low profile MEMS filters offer major benefits including small size and very low profile making them ideal for use in embedded applications. Using the latest MEMS technology, it is possible to produce bandstop and bandpass filter products that offer a very low profile (=0.5mm) solution. The advantages of Euroquartz MEMS filters are their small size offering high reliability and high performance, covering the range from 2 to 50GHz.

MEMS filter types available include bandpass, bandstop, lowpass, attenuator chip, time-delay line, substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) and micro-shielding.

A new Euroquartz quick reference oscillator guide for design engineers was also available at Electronica. The colour-coded guide is set out so that design engineers can quickly identify the correct oscillator range for their application encompassing low power, low EMI, differential outputs, temperature compensated, voltage controlled and general clocks.
