The MC6 is a ruggedised, high-density, fibre optic connector designed around an industry standard MT ferrule. It currently features 12 to 24 channels per connector, with a future potential of up to 72. Either flat ribbon or round cable can be specified – connectors can be supplied as components only, or pre-terminated onto harness assemblies as required.
The MC6 uses the compact MIL-C-38999 Series III, size 11 shell, which is based on the proven Deutsch MC5 fibre optic connector, and also features an alternative connector option in the DMC-M (EN 4165 / BACC65 / ARINC 809). Maintenance is easy due to the accessible end faces, and cleaning (blind if required) is enabled using a COTS cleaning tool.
The lightweight, corrosion resistant, metal-plated composite shell provides high strength and durability, combined with EMC shielding if required. This results in a very compact, rugged, environmentally sealed solution for a wide range of applications. These include military and civil avionics – data bus and in-flight entertainment systems – as well as ground vehicles.
As Michael O’Farrell, Fibre Optic Product Manager for Deutsch UK, explained “Dassault has an outstanding heritage in civil and military aircraft. Using their military aviation experience, technical know-how and design flair they’ve kept the Falcon 7X at the forefront of advanced technologies. Naturally, with this background, Dassault is particularly rigorous in specifying, testing and selecting every component that goes into their aircraft. We’ve worked closely with their engineers for some time to ensure that the Deutsch MC6 connector exactly meets their needs. Now, following an extensive test programme in line with Dassault’s requirements, we’re pleased to say the MC6 has earned its place on board the aircraft.”
The Aircraft Interiors Exhibition is the industry launch pad for cabin programmes, showcasing tomorrow’s designs, in-flight entertainment, connectivity and passenger services while offering visitors the ability to research and compare the world’s leading aircraft cabin solutions.
