ADLINK Technology, a manufacturer of industrial computing products, has launched the IMX-9000, an industrial mobile handheld computer using the Windows CE 6.0 R3 operating system. Murata and Beta LAYOUT offer PCB service with free embedded UHF RFID

Murata and their RFID partner Beta LAYOUT have launched a prototype trial service for their MAGICSTRAP-based PCB RFID devices. Using Murata’s MAGICSTRAP devices, Beta LAYOUT will embed the UHF RFID component for a regular prototype order of up to 50 PCBs without extra charge. This allows electronics equipment manufacturers to investigate the ease with which this PCB identification approach can be implemented.

Peregrine’s UltraCMOS RFICs flying in Globalstar communication satellites

Peregrine Semiconductor, a fabless provider of high-performance radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs), has announced that its UltraCMOS Phase Locked Loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer and prescaler devices were designed into six Globalstar mobile communication satellites that were launched into orbit on February 6. Built by Thales Alenia Space in France, the low-Earth orbit satellites transmit audio and data communications for Globalstar’s mobile voice and data customers worldwide.

Open source RF hardware project launched to further innovation

Lime Microsystems has launched an open-source RF initiative in a move designed to widen the community of developers and aid RF innovation. Myriad-RF, launched as a non-profit initiative, aims to give both hobbyists and experienced design engineers a range of low-cost RF boards and free design files available for general use. Future board designs will come from the wider Myriad-RF community, with the first board (Myriad-RF 1) designed by Taiwanese distributor Azio Electronics.
