PSU manufacturer VxI Power has developed a new bridge device that allows power supplies with Modbus RTU communications capability to be controlled and monitored over the internet or any other WAN or LAN. As well as acting as a communication bridge between the Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP protocols, the IPM01 device features an embedded HTTP server that enables the user to view and configure PSU parameters via a web browser.

New from Allegro MicroSystems Europe the A8650 is a robust synchronous buck regulator IC designed for automotive power-supply applications in areas such as instrument clusters, HVAC, navigation, and audio systems.

Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced a small and accurate Li-Ion battery fuel gauge integrated circuit, the bq27421, which has been designed to boost battery run-time in portable medical devices, such as wearable health monitors, and industrial devices like inventory scanners and portable emergency lights and other consumer electronics.

The SKiiPX IGBT module from Semikron has been designed for extreme climatic conditions and allows for condensation during operation. It meets the specific requirements for wind turbines in the 1-6MW power range. Under harsh climatic conditions, secondary damage caused by moisture ranks among the most common causes of failure of power electronics modules, so a module specified to allow for condensation will offer a significantly increased lifetime.

Linear Technology has launched the LTM4649, a 10A step-down µModule regulator with high operating efficiency and low temperature rise in a 9mm x 15mm x 4.92mm BGA (ball grid array) package. The device requires no heat sink, airflow or output current derating at full power from 0°C to 83°C ambient temperature, while operating up to 86% efficiency (5VIN –12VIN, 1.5VOUT at 10A). Output current is reduced only by 4A up to 100ºC ambient and by 2A with 400LFM.

The ZXBM1021 single-phase, brushless, DC motor pre-driver introduced by Diodes Incorporated provides a small, feature-rich variable speed control solution for cooling fans, blowers, extractors, motors and pumps deployed in a variety of consumer and industrial products.

New from Glassman Europe the 1.5kW FL Series ‘Floating Output’ high voltage programmable DC power supplies feature fully floating outputs which can be biased as either positive or negative output supplies. The FL provides high power density of 1.5KW in a 1U package, which has not been typically seen in power supplies above 600V and will allow design engineers greater flexibility, particularly when space is at a premium.

Integrated Device Technology (IDT) has developed and validated an intelligent, scalable, and distributed power management solution for Intel Atom processors, Intel Xeon processors and Intel Core processors. The new solution is designed to meet the cross-platform power requirements of various Intel-based applications with a single power management IC (PMIC).

Linear Technology Corporation has launched the LT3081, a rugged 1.5A wide input voltage range linear regulator with key usability, monitoring and protection features. The device has an extended safe operating area (SOA) compared to existing regulators, making it suited for high input-to-output voltage and high output current applications where older regulators limit the output.

Power Integrations has introduced the LYTSwitch-0 IC, a new series of devices within the LYTSwitch family, that are able to offer a combination of simplicity, reliability and efficiency. LYTSwitch-0 ICs are suitable for cost-sensitive, non-isolated, non-dimmable GU10 bulbs and other space-constrained bulb applications.
