Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced a new family of ultra-miniature CMOS low drop-out voltage regulators (LDOs) with a 200mA driving capability that provides an improved performance/size ratio. The TCR2EN series of highly integrated devices is suitable for mobile phones and other battery-powered, portable devices that demand low power consumption, high performance and minimum PCB space.

Power supply specialist Powersolve has launched the TEP 200WIR Series of high performance DC/DC converter modules that are capable of providing up to 240W. Approval to EN50155 allows these converters to be used in railway applications while an ultra-wide 4:1 input voltage range (Up to 160VDC), efficiency levels to 91% and adjustable output voltages also make the new converters suitable for a wide range of applications.

iWatt Inc., a provider of digital-centric power management integrated circuits (ICs), has launched an innovative new digital AC/DC solid state lighting (SSL) LED driver platform that has been designed specifically to address the key issues of cost and lifetime in price-sensitive, non-dimmable, residential SSL bulb applications. The iW3626 was developed in close cooperation with several iWatt key customers, including Eastfield International Industries, Ltd., which has designed the iW3626 into its next-generation, non-dimmable SSL bulb product lines.

Fairchild Semiconductor’s latest high-voltage field-stop shorted-anode trench IGBTs provide designers with a highly efficient, cost-effective solution to meet design challenges associated with high-power and high-frequency induction heating (IH) appliances that require lower conduction losses and superior switching performance in order to achieve higher efficiency and system reliability in applications such as IH rice cookers, table-top induction cookers and inverter-based microwave ovens.

Microchip has unveiled the MCP19111, the world’s first digitally enhanced power analogue controller, in a move that further expands Microchip’s diverse range of intelligent DC/DC power-conversion solutions. Microchip is also expanding its high-speed MOSFET family, with the new MCP87018, MCP87030, MCP87090 and MCP87130.

Linear Technology has launched the LTC6430-15, a 15dB amplifier, which achieves high dynamic range in a 100Ohm differential environment from 20MHz to 1GHz and beyond. Two performance grades are available: at 240MHz, the A-grade OIP3 is typically 50dBm and is fully tested and guaranteed to be a minimum of 47dBm.

Renesas Electronics has launched three new low on-state resistance MOSFET products, including the µPA2766T1A, which has been optimised for use as ORing FETs in power supply units for network servers and storage systems.

Energy Micro has announced that VELUX has selected the EFM32 Giant Gecko microcontroller for its latest electric window remote control. The handheld ‘VELUX Integra’ programmable remote has a touch screen interface for controlling windows, ventilation flaps, blinds and other accessories. The EFM32 32-bit MCU with 1024KB of Flash memory incorporates an autonomous low power direct drive TFT controller for the large colour display, which features a smartphone-like interface with on-screen icons and ‘touch’ and ‘swipe’ functions.

NXP Semiconductors has launched its NextPower Live portfolio, a new family of linear mode Power MOSFETs designed specifically for use in ‘hot-swap’ environments. The NextPower Live family offers impressive linear mode performance and a very low RDS(on) value, a unique combination said to demonstrate NXP’s expertise in this area.

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced a new photocoupler IC that is able to provide a low-power, space-saving isolation interface between an IPM (intelligent power module) and its control circuitry. Combining guaranteed operation at temperatures from -40°C to 125°C with a minimum input-to-output isolation voltage of 5000Vrms (AC, 1 min), the TLP754 is suited for motor control and inverter applications designed for noisy, extended temperature industrial environments.
