Freescale Semiconductor has launched a comprehensive system-level solution for automotive radar based advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The new Qorivva MPC577xK microcontroller (MCU) and MRD2001 77 GHz radar transceiver chipset provide the embedded technology necessary for affordable radar based ADAS solutions with fewer components, removing up to four additional major printed circuit board (PCB) components and reducing system-level cost, PCB space and software complexity, in a move which could help to increase this technology’s adoption in mainstream vehicles.

Arrow Electronics and the Basel Action Network (BAN) have announced a three-year agreement to certify all of Arrow’s electronics recycling and IT asset recovery operations worldwide to the e-Stewards standard, leading the program not only across North America but also into Europe and Latin America. Arrow will be the first global e-Stewards recycler taking the program to all of its facilities in multiple continents.

Linear Technology has launched the LTM4649, a 10A step-down µModule regulator with high operating efficiency and low temperature rise in a 9mm x 15mm x 4.92mm BGA (ball grid array) package. The device requires no heat sink, airflow or output current derating at full power from 0°C to 83°C ambient temperature, while operating up to 86% efficiency (5VIN –12VIN, 1.5VOUT at 10A). Output current is reduced only by 4A up to 100ºC ambient and by 2A with 400LFM.

Plessey has unveiled samples of a 350mW LED product (p/n PLB010350). These entry level lighting products are manufactured on Plessey’s 6-inch MAGICTM (Manufactured on GaN I/C) line at its Plymouth, England facility and are aimed at a variety of solid state lighting and entertainment-type lighting products including accent lighting, wall washing, wall grazing, strip-lighting and a variety of pulse lighting applications.

New from Glassman Europe the 1.5kW FL Series ‘Floating Output’ high voltage programmable DC power supplies feature fully floating outputs which can be biased as either positive or negative output supplies. The FL provides high power density of 1.5KW in a 1U package, which has not been typically seen in power supplies above 600V and will allow design engineers greater flexibility, particularly when space is at a premium.
