Toshiba Electronics Europe has launched a new VGA, 1/4 inch CMOS image sensor for automotive applications including rear view cameras for parking assist systems, surround view systems and side view systems. The TCM5126GBA integrates a high dynamic range (HDR) function that reproduces high quality images of objects backlit by the sun and vehicle headlights. The CMOS image sensor boasts a pixel size of 5.6µm and a full resolution frame rate of 60fps.

Altera brings FPGA-based acceleration to IBM power systems

Altera Corporation has announced that the latest release of the company’s SDK for OpenCL supports IBM Power Systems servers as an OpenCL system host. Customers will now be able to develop OpenCL code that targets IBM Power Systems CPUs and accelerator boards using Altera’s FPGAs as a high-performance compute solution. According to the company FPGA users can see a 5-20X performance boost over standard CPU based servers for many applications.
