Silicon Labs has introduced a new family of relative humidity (RH) and temperature sensors that simplify RH sensing designs while providing both power efficiency and ease of use. Silicon Labs’ second-generation RH sensing solution, the Si701x/2x sensors combine a standard CMOS mixed-signal IC with a proven technique of measuring humidity using a polymer dielectric film.

New research from IHS suggests that penetration of gallium nitride-on-silicon (GaN-on-Si) wafers into the light-emitting diode (LED) market is set to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 69 percent from 2013 to 2020, by which time they will account for 40 percent of all GaN LEDs manufactured.

Aspen Electronics is now stocking the CM55 and CM65 clock modules from DAPU Telecom. According to Aspen, which has an exclusive UK distribution deal with DAPU, the new family of high accuracy clock modules will find application in LTE base stations and other applications that require high holdover. The modules can also replace atomic clocks in a range of high accuracy communications equipment applications.

Following a 2.5 percent decline in 2012, the global semiconductor market has regained its footing in 2013 with revenue set to expand by nearly 5 percent because of the strong performance of the memory sector. Global semiconductor sales in 2013 will amount to $317.9 billion, up 4.9 percent from $302.9 billion in 2012, according to preliminary estimates from the Semiconductor Value Chain Service at IHS.

Intersil Corporation has expanded its family of power management ICs with the new ZL2102, a 6 Amp digital synchronous step-down DC/DC power regulator. The ZL2102 is a fully-integrated, auto compensated DC/DC regulator able to support adjustable output voltages of 0.54V to 5.5V operating from input voltages from 4.5V up to 14V.
