HARTING is exploiting the Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard in its latest range of Ethernet switches to provide more power to connected system devices. PoE and its higher-power variant PoE+ are standards for the parallel transfer of power and data over twisted-pair cable. The switches use the PoE+ standard (based on IEEE 802.3at) to offer power levels of up to 34.2 W, thereby significantly increasing the variety of potential applications.

New from Allegro MicroSystems Europ, the ACS726 is a current sensor IC designed to provide an economical and precise solution for AC current sensing in industrial, commercial and communications applications.In addition to featuring galvanic isolation, it is the first current sensor IC to include a fully differential back-end amplifier that can be used to adjust gain and bandwidth via external RC networks.

Samsung Electronics has started mass producing the industry’s first 64 gigabyte (GB), double data rate-4 (DDR4), registered dual Inline memory modules (RDIMMs) that use three dimensional (3D) “through silicon via” (TSV) package technology. The new high-density, high-performance module will play a key role in supporting the continued proliferation of enterprise servers and cloud-based applications, as well as further diversification of data center solutions.

Linear Technology has launched the H- and MP-grade versions of the LTC3853, a triple output synchronous step-down switching regulator controller. This device operates over a 4.5V to 24V input voltage range and can produce output currents up to 20A per phase with output voltages ranging from 0.8V to 13.5V at up to 95% efficiency. These H- and MP-grade versions are guaranteed over operating junction temperatures from -40°C to 150°C and -55°C to 150°C, respectively.

Freescale Semiconductor has introduced a range of fully programmable wireless charging ICs and reference designs which target automotive and consumer applications. The new Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) Qi-certified transmit controller ICs and reference designs are fully qualified and are now available. As feature-rich, power-hungry mobile devices become more popular with consumers, new wireless charging system deployments in offices, hotels, airports and other public spaces are driving demand for highly flexible solutions that allow for more innovative, highly customisable implementations.

Peregrine Semiconductor has unveiled the UltraCMOS PE42424 high-isolation, SPDT switch which has been optimised for 802.11ac carrier and enterprise Wi-Fi access points. A successor to last year’s PE42423, the upgraded switch is 75 percent smaller and features a 60-percent increase in power handling and a 350-percent faster switching speed. The PE42424 is intended for transmit/receive switching applications for outdoor Wi-Fi access points that require high power handling and rugged, high-temperature performance.
