Ethernet switches use PoE+ standard to provide more power for system devices

HARTING is exploiting the Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard in its latest range of Ethernet switches to provide more power to connected system devices. PoE and its higher-power variant PoE+ are standards for the parallel transfer of power and data over twisted-pair cable. The switches use the PoE+ standard (based on IEEE 802.3at) to offer power levels of up to 34.2 W, thereby significantly increasing the variety of potential applications.

Linear Technology has launched the H- and MP-grade versions of the LTC3853, a triple output synchronous step-down switching regulator controller. This device operates over a 4.5V to 24V input voltage range and can produce output currents up to 20A per phase with output voltages ranging from 0.8V to 13.5V at up to 95% efficiency. These H- and MP-grade versions are guaranteed over operating junction temperatures from -40°C to 150°C and -55°C to 150°C, respectively.

Peregrine unveils significant upgrades to carrier-grade Wi-Fi switch

Peregrine Semiconductor has unveiled the UltraCMOS PE42424 high-isolation, SPDT switch which has been optimised for 802.11ac carrier and enterprise Wi-Fi access points. A successor to last year’s PE42423, the upgraded switch is 75 percent smaller and features a 60-percent increase in power handling and a 350-percent faster switching speed. The PE42424 is intended for transmit/receive switching applications for outdoor Wi-Fi access points that require high power handling and rugged, high-temperature performance.
