Cree and Acal BFI, a division of Acal, have signed a franchise agreement, to increase the sale of Cree RF components in Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Hungary and Luxemburg.

RS Components (RS) has announced the availability of a new mbed application board. Based around the mbed developer platform, the new application board includes a host of connectors and external interfaces, eliminating the requirement for add-on boards and thus reducing valuable design time for engineers.

TT electronics has introduced the WPRT Series of Wirewound Power Radial Terminal Resistors, qualified to AEC-Q200 and designed to address the specific requirements of high power applications including Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). Mouser Electronics has announced the immediate availability of the award-winning TAIYO YUDEN MCOIL Metal Power Inductor, a new series of coil components that use magnetic metallic materials. A recipient of the Hearst Electronic Products’ 2012 Product of the Year Award, MCOIL inductors use a new type of magnetic core, permitting handling of higher current levels than other power inductors of their size.

The American power supply manufacturer, KEPCO has extended its KLN series of programmable DC power supplies with the introduction of twenty-six new models. The new instruments are divided into two ranges: 1U models rated at 1500W and 2U models rated at 3000W, with each offering a choice of thirteen different max voltage/current combinations.

Element14 has announced the launch of the Raspberry Pi Model A board in Europe. Since its launch, in February of last year, the Raspberry Pi has been one of the most successful electronic products on the market, element14 has to date sold over 500,000 around the world. While the new board has a few slight differences with only 256MB of RAM included as standard, no Ethernet connection and only one USB port, it does use considerably less energy.

MSC Gleichmann has announced a partnership with Adesto Technologies to supply its Serial Flash product line as well as offer future releases of Adesto products. In October last year, Adesto acquired Atmel’s Serial Flash line, which includes its AT45xxx “DataFlash” and AT25Dxxx/AT25Fxxx “BIOS Flash” memory families, in a move that was seen as a key step towards the company becoming a full-line supplier of premium, non-volatile memory solutions.

Mouser Electronics is now stocking elements of Freescale"s Xtrinsic eCompass solution, which includes MMA865x 3-axis accelerometers and MAG3110 3-axis magnetometers. Both devices combine ultra-small form factor in 2 x 2mm package size while offering impressive levels of performance. At 1mm height, the MMA865x accelerometers are 56 percent smaller, in terms of volume than previous Freescale accelerometers, making them suitable for low-profile, space-conscious applications.

Bandwidth is often the first factor that is considered when purchasing an oscilloscope and up to now, customers with a budget of £500 have been limited to 50MHz bandwidth or a lesser-known brand.
