Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions division is to demonstrate a new family of ultra-small OEM cameras for the security and industrial markets at this year’s Ifsec security technology exhibition. Called FCB-Micro, the new camera range delivers HD video (upto 1080p, 30fps) and upto 13 megapixel still images from a tiny 16x18mm footprint.

Synopsys has made available the Virtualizer Development Kit (VDK) for Freescale Semiconductor’s Qorivva microcontroller (MCU) family to help accelerate the development of automotive control applications in powertrain/hybrid, chassis/safety and body electronic control units (ECUs).

Molex Incorporated has unveiled Projected Capacitive Touch Screens, which leverage the company’s existing capacitive switch technology to deliver multi-touch functionality that is both responsive and intuitive to operate. The touch screens allow original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to meet specific customer needs by providing customised embedded software; multiple screen and glass styles; a variety of treatment finishes and various output interface choices.

Altera Corporation has announced the availability of its Cyclone V SoC Development Kit, a development platform that enables hardware and software developers to accelerate their embedded systems design development. Developed in collaboration with ARM, it features the ARM Development Studio 5 (DS-5) Altera Edition Toolkit software, currently the industry’s only FPGA-adaptive debugging software that enables designers to view the processor and FPGA portions of the device simultaneously.

AVX Corporation has added several new varistors to its TransGuard and TransGuard Automotive Series. Based on its reliable zinc-oxide varistor technology, the extended TransGuard series provide customers with a much broader range of voltage and energy rating options than were previously available, expanding both the number and type of applications in which this technology can be used.

IAR Systems, the only tools provider to cover the entire range of Renesas’ 8/16/32-bit microcontroller families, is now offering full support for the newly introduced RX111 microcontrollers. As a result of IAR Systems’ strategic alliance with Renesas, immediate support for the group is available in the C/C++ development tool suite IAR Embedded Workbench.

Chomerics Europe, a specialist manufacturer of electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, thermal management and optical display filter products and materials has introduced a new EMI shielding material for use over vents and displays. WIN-SHIELDTM Mesh 100P has been designed for use in a wide range of commercial and military applications allowing airflow from vents to be maintained and displays to remain viewable without compromising the shielding integrity of customer equipment.

AVX Corporation has introduced a new ultra-broadband capacitor series. Designed to address DC blocking from 16KHz to 40GHz, the new GX03 series ultra-broadband capacitors exhibit ultra-broadband performance, extremely low insertion loss, as well as return loss and X7R characteristics. Applications for the GX03 series include: semiconductor data communications, receiver optical subassemblies, transimpedance amplifiers and test equipment.

Based on newly developed electronics and optics Finder has added 3 new application-specific movement detectors to its 18 Series range which are specifically designed for sensing within larger rectangular areas such as hotel lobbies and long corridors. The 18.41 surveys an area up to 15 metres either side of the device, giving an extensive total detecting zone of 30 metres long by 4 metres wide, from just a single unit.

Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new high-performance metallized polypropylene film snubber capacitor. Configurable for direct mounting on insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) modules, the Roederstein MKP386M features a wide capacitance range from 0.047 µF up to 10 µF, high-temperature operation to + 105 °C, and seven voltage ratings from 700 VDC to 2500 VDC and 420 VAC to 800 VAC.
