Tektronix is significantly expanding its portfolio of instrumentation and software to support designers working on the electrical side of 100Gbps communication systems. The introductions include the LE320, a 2 differential channel, 9 tap Linear Equalizer supporting data rates up to 32Gbps as part of a BERTScope receiver test system; new options for the PPG/PED multi-channel BERTs that provide signal impairments and output adjustment at data rates up to 32Gbps, as well as, a new 40Gbps error detector model; and Option CEI-VSR that automates the DSA8300 Sampling Oscilloscope to perform required compliance tests for the CEI-28G-VSRstandard.

Vishay Intertechnology has announced that it is now offering laboratory sample kits of certain precision thin film chip resistors. The MCS 0402 (LCS 96/4) and MCT 0603 (LCT 96/4) kits aid engineers in prototyping and speed time to market in a wide range of electronic systems.

Mentor Graphics" solutions have been validated by TSMC with a true 3D stacking test vehicle for TSMC’s 3D-IC Reference Flow. The flow expands support from silicon interposer offerings to include TSV-based, stacked die designs. Specific Mentor offerings include capabilities for metal routing and bump implementation, multi-chip physical verification and connectivity checking, chip interface and TSV parasitics extraction, thermal simulation, and comprehensive pre- and post-package testing.

Agilent Technologies has introduced the next generation of optical modulation analysis software for its family of optical modulation analysers. The new software makes it easy for photonic engineers to set up tests on their optical modulation analysers, increasing test efficiency by cutting the number of steps by 50 per cent. By automating the execution of tests, the software also minimises testing errors.

Pentair has developed a ruggedized version of its Schroff VARISTAR cabinet platform with enhanced vibration resistance to protect sensitive electronic systems in demanding operating conditions encountered during operation at sea. Suitable for use on frigates, aircraft carriers and submarines, the VARISTAR cabinet has been independently tested in accordance to the MIL-STD-901D standard.

Bourns, a manufacturer and supplier of electronic components, has introduced its SMD Power Inductor Series. With 13 new models the new series features non-shielded and shielded construction and is AEC-Q200 qualified. Bourns’ SMD power inductor models are specifically designed for use in a broad range of automotive applications that include driver assistant devices, information/entertainment systems and lighting.

KEMET has announced the expansion of its T528 Low ESL/Facedown Terminal Polymer Tantalum Series. A newly constructed B case size design offers ESR values of 6 and 9 mOhms, making it the lowest ESR product available in this footprint.

Tektronix has expanded its TBS1000 oscilloscope series to include three new 4-channel models at 60 MHz, 100 MHz and 150 MHz bandwidth. Designed and built by Tektronix, the TBS1000 oscilloscopes are backed by a 5-year warranty for years of reliable electronics testing in research and development, education, service and manufacturing applications.

AVX Corporation has added several new high temperature varistors to its radial leaded TransGuard Automotive Series. Based on the company’s patented multilayer varistor (MLV) technology, the new components are rated for -55°C to +150°C, qualified to AEC-Q200, and feature a robust construction that enables sustained peak performance in an expanded range of harsh environment and high temperature applications, such as under hood and down hole drilling.

In an move designed to further reduce time to market for both semiconductor and system manufacturers, Cadence Design Systems has introduced the Palladium XP II Verification Computing Platform as part of an enhanced System Development Suite, intended to significantly speeding up hardware and software verification.
