Cadence Design Systems has introduced a suite of ultra-fast, low-power analogue intellectual property (IP) products which have been designed to enable the next generation of high-speed wired and wireless communications applications. These new products are intended to meet the needs of designers working with emerging high-speed protocols such as WiGig (802.11ad), which runs on a 60 GHz spectrum with potential data throughput up to 7Gbps, as well as LTE and LTE Advanced.

IQD has unveiled a new IQOV-200F OCXO that is able to deliver exceptional phase noise performance with a close-in measurement of -130dBc @100Hz and a noise floor better than -180dBc across a high frequency range of 80 to 130MHz.

New from ARCOL Resistors, MSR Bare Element Resistors have been developed for current sensing and shunt applications in intelligent power systems and instrumentation. The MSR series feature a special alloy element, copper-clad steel leads and welded construction. Built in stand-offs and standard lead spacings make for simple PCB mounting.

Murata is to commence commercial production of its XRCGD crystal unit this month. With a frequency precision of +/- 20ppm, the crystal is able to support the stringent frequency tolerances required for wireless communications such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Radio Frequency / Base Band. The crystal unit is aimed at consumer electronic devices that are worn by a person and include some type of computing and wireless communication features.

Sony Image Sensing Solutions has announced that its FCB camera block modules have been adopted by MacArtney Benelux for a range of high-definition deep-water pipe inspection cameras for the oil and gas industry. The LUXUS range of inspection cameras are used to monitor the structural integrity of underwater pipelines, oil well caps and rigs in depths of beyond 4000m and pressures in excess of 400 atmospheres.

HUBER+SUHNER have announced a new version of its 3402 Series gas discharge tube (GDT) lightning and EMP protectors. The new device extends the maximum operating frequency from 2.5GHz up to 3GHz which greatly expands the range of applications for this type of protection device.

STMicroelectronics is revealing a range of new families of ultra-miniature filtering, protection and RF matching devices. The company said that it is leveraging advanced semiconductor technologies to integrate commonly used circuit elements such as passive filters, ESD suppressors and wireless baluns in a much smaller size than state-of-the-art discrete solutions.
