Calrec Audio – a world renowned manufacturer of high quality audio consoles for live broadcasting – has been using Sifam control knobs for over 30 years, and has chosen the Company to manufacture bespoke components for its state-of-the-art Apollo and Artemis consoles. Andrew Timme, product engineering manager at Calrec, explained: “We have been using Sifam’s offtheshelf products for many years, and have always been satisfied with the high quality of parts and customer support we receive.”
“When developing the Apollo console, a key feature of the system was for every control to be fully assignable, using coloured illumination to identify the allocated function. We developed our own control knob for this role, allowing illumination using side-mounted LEDs, with transparent channels to direct the light upwards. Each console contains up to 600 of these control knobs, so it is vital that every part is precision manufactured to ensure correct and reliable illumination. Sifam was the logical choice of partner to manufacture our design; we already had a very good existing relationship and we were confident that the Company had the required expertise to produce high quality components. We worked with Sifam to further refine our design for large scale manufacturing, and have been very happy with the result, using over 26,000 units last year alone.”
