AWS Electronics completes fully-automated, dedicated automotive production line

AWS Electronics Group has completed a round of significant investment in support of its burgeoning automotive business with the acquision of an inline router. In addition to recent investments in laser marking, SMT, oddform placement and dual AOI’s, the investment in the new router provides AWS with a fully-automated and dedicated automotive line where PCBAs are processed without interaction until final test and packaging.

PCB breakout has always been a low value-added activity, but one that has the potential to damage PCBs. However, with the investment in a Cencorp Automation inline Router from Altus Group, AWS has dramatically reduced its handling, cycle time and scrap PCBs.

Comments AWS’ Group Technical Director, Robert Lackey: “The Cencorp Automation router was our first choice due because of the quality of the machine, its seemless integration with our SMT line and the excellent support from Altus Group in the UK and their Central European division, Danutek, for our Slovakian factory.”
