Avnet Abacus, one of Europe’s leading interconnect, passive, electro-mechanical and power distributors, was recognised as the 2015 European Distributor of the Year by TE Connectivity (TE), a global leader in connectivity and sensors.
The award recognised Avnet Abacus’ success throughout the year, which resulted in solid growth due to the substantial increase in inventory of TE products. This has enabled customers in all European markets to quickly access a broad selection of TE’s innovative connectors and electro-mechanical and passive devices.
Avnet Abacus’ targeted marketing campaigns contributed to its success by generating significant demand from electronics engineers across Europe. The engagement of Avnet Abacus’ sales and product specialists with TE’s e-learning platform, which provides detailed technical and product training resources, enabled them to better support customers through improved product knowledge. Avnet Abacus has one of the highest numbers of TE certified sales representatives in the EMEA region.
Alan Jermyn, vice president of European marketing at Avnet Abacus, commented: “TE is by far the largest connectivity manufacturer in the world, and to be recognised as its top distribution partner in Europe is a high accolade. Not only does it demonstrate our strength in sales performance, but it also shows our commitment to keep up to date with the latest products and technologies for the ultimate benefit of our customers.”
Avnet Abacus has done a good job of expanding our business in EMEA,” said Joan Wainwright, president, channel and customer experience at TE. “There has been a clear commitment throughout the organisation to gain a thorough understanding of TE’s broad product portfolio, resulting in above-market sales results. We’re very appreciative of their support and our continued partnership.”
The award was presented at TE’s annual Global Distribution Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, North America in April. At the ceremony, the Avnet Group also received the global award for the most design registrations, with Avnet Abacus making a significant contribution to this activity.
