Antenova announces Mutica, an ultra compact, dual-band Wi-Fi antenna for video streaming, and more antennas for the growing IoT market

Earlier this year, antenna manufacturer Antenova announced three entirely new families of antenna products to take the company’s product ranges to a new level for the M2M, wearable technology and IoT markets. The first of these, the new miniature ceramic antenna, Weii, became available in May, then Mutica, an ultra compact dual-band Wi-Fi antenna for video streaming, was announced.

 

A dual-band Wi-Fi antenna for high speed data

Mutica, is designed to fit within a reduced ground plane on the host PCB, making it ideal for the smaller Wi-Fi products and wireless accessories being created today. It is an SMD mounted antenna for all dual-band Wi-Fi applications, especially those requiring high speed data transfer and multiple-in multiple-out (MIMO) applications, for example security cameras, video cameras, set-top-boxes and devices for connected vehicles.

Its specifications will also suit Wi-Fi access points, portable electronics, headsets, PC cards, games consoles, network devices and wearable electronics.

Antenova takes a unique approach to the design of its antennas, which it calls “Design For Integration” (DFI). Because the antennas are always embedded within a customer’s product, Antenova designs them so that the RF elements can easily be added to the customer’s design, and so that the antenna will provide excellent performance when it is placed in position on the PCB.

Antenova gives advice on RF design and the integration of the antenna, along with engineering assistance and customer support, and provides the CAD footprint files of each  antenna free of charge to customers.

New families of antennas for wearables and the IoT

The Mutica antenna is the first in the new family of lamiiANT FR4 SMD antennas which Antenova announced earlier this year.

lamiiANT is a family of antennas manufactured from FR4 materials. These SMD antennas use the latest in dielectric constant laminate substrates. They are suitable for all wireless applications ranging from 680 – 2700 MHz, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, ISM, cellular, LTE, GNSS and more.

ceriiANT is a family of miniature ceramic antennas that have been scaled down to amazingly small sizes. They are tiny, highly efficient antennas that perform well close to the human body. They are suitable for connected consumer devices, wearable technology and M2M applications.

flexiiANT, the third of the new product families, is a group of flexible FPC antennas, with a cable and connector, that are attached to the underside covering or housing of a customers’ product. They are suitable for numerous different applications and can be used in any wireless electronic market.
