andersDX unveils enhanced features across commercial-grade Android tablets range

andersDX, the Display and Embedded Computing specialists, have announced the third generation of the iDISPLAY Tablets range, including 7”, 10.1”, 15.6”, 18.5” and 21.5” displays. These touch screen platforms, created specifically for commercial and retail environments carry enhanced features with significant cost savings of up to 35%.

The range has been upgraded from Android 4.0.4 to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and the touchscreens are now multitouch projected capacitive while the display panels provide ultra-wide viewing angles to IPS standards. 3G and 4G communications are enabled, and WiFi capability is improved with a stronger signal.

The smaller iDISPLAY tablets are driven by ARM Cortex A9 dual core 1.2GHz platforms and include a built in battery with 8 hours life; the larger tablets are based on quad core 1.6 GHz and feature embedded Ethernet with an on-board RG-45 connector.

All the tablets feature multiple GPUs providing 3D graphics. 1 GB of 64-bit DDR3 SDRAM is provided, as well as 8 GB internal Flash memory expandable with micro-SD cards. 2 x 1W speakers are provided for the smaller tablets, while the larger have 2 x 3W speakers. All tablets have audio codecs and communications channels include Bluetooth, WiFi, wired Ethernet and 3G/4G LTE as well as GPS.

Integrators can easily enhance the tablets’ interactive functionality by choosing from a range of cable-free modules, collectively known as add-ons, which easily attach to either side of the tablets. Initial products will support functions such as NFC Engagement, Card Readers, Push Buttons and Motion Sensors.

The tablets are straightforward to deploy and manage as well as attractive for users, according to the company. Their Pulse Technology core translates years of research and experience into hardware and software capabilities that differentiate iDisplay tablets from consumer products. Functions include Auto-Power, Auto-Play Content and Password Protection. Software management is eased with a CMS-friendly environment and tools such as data analytics and Mobile Device Management (MDM). Built-in playback software is also available, and GPS communication supports location-based advertising and device tracking.

Integration and installation is made easy with a VESA mounting system and designers can build these tablets into wall panels, kiosks or other application-specific enclosures, or mount them as standalone units using andersDX’s choice of fixtures including counter stands, floor stands, wall- and shelf-mounting brackets and table brackets. The tablets themselves are constructed from durable materials, suitable for non-consumer use and feature a hidden control panel protecting your settings and content.

“These uniquely scalable tablets are popular in many commercial environments because they offer today’s consumer device experiences within rugged, software optimised, commercial-grade hardware” commented Paul Mullen, Sales Director at andersDX, “Now, the third generation products will create fresh opportunities for our customers through their aggressive pricing and enhanced features”.
