Altus promote Rehm’s smart data solutions at productronica

Altus, a leading distributor of capital equipment for the electronics assembly industry in the UK and Ireland, will be helping to promote Rehm’s innovative software solution, aimed at addressing ‘Smart Factory’ intelligent manufacturing at Productronica in Germany from 14-17 November.

From their stand (A2 132), Altus will offer advice and guidance on the best solutions to specific requirements and will be happy to accompany visitors to their principles stands, including Rehm Thermal Systems, pre-booking demonstrations (where possible), to make sure you get the best from your visit.

One of Rehm’s main focuses will be on ViCON, a clever software created with intuitive touch operability of the VisionX series. The system allows you to log all values, or collect and analyse alarms to avoid errors, improve soldering processes and document for optimum traceability. ViCON Software and the ViCON App will allow remote monitoring of the system in real time from your PC, tablet or mobile.

Working on the future of the Smart Factory concept, Rehm will also demonstrate a manufacturer-independent interface for communications between all machines of a production. ‘The Hermes Standard’ enables circuit boards to be logged through all stations of the production process (printers, transport, placement machines, AOI systems, soldering systems), with complete traceability and without any loss of data. It is intended that the tool will replace the usual SMEMA standard.

As well as their new software solutions, Rehm will also have a range of thermal systems displayed including VisionXP+ Vac. The new vacuum unit allows void-free convection soldering in a single process. The system has had a number of new updates including environmental and energy efficiency developments, which saves customers up to 20 per cent energy in electronics manufacturing, with the system consuming an average of 10 tonnes less CO2 per year.

VisionXP+ Vac removes gas bubbles and voids during the pre-soldering process while the solder is still in an ideal molten state. With a vacuum of up to 2 mbar, void rates of less than two per cent are possible. The pressure and speed can also be individually managed giving the user optimum control.

Components can now pass directly from peak areas to the vacuum process, this reduces time during the production process, and creates a stable and high-quality end result.

Many of Altus’ suppliers are exhibiting at Productronica, including Koh Young (SPI & AOI); YJ Link (Board Handling & Laser Marking); Cencorp (Routers, Odd Form & Final Assembly); Rehm (Convection & Vapour Phase Reflow); Nikon (X-Ray Inspection); Yamaha (Screen Printers and Pick & Place Mounters); Kolb (Cleaning Systems & Chemistry); ATN (Automated Soldering Solutions and Entry Level Pick & Place Systems); Optilia (Full HD Camera Inspection Systems).
