Stadium Group launches platform design service for fast track development of IoT connectivity solutions

Stadium Group, a leading provider of IoT connectivity solutions, power products, human machine interface (HMI) and electronic assemblies, has announced the launch of an exciting new design offering which enables OEMs to develop smarter IoT solutions and achieve accelerated speed to market.

The S-series of platform devices offer customers an alternative to a fully customised IoT solution which can be time consuming and expensive. The S-series platforms, developed in Stadium’s dedicated connectivity design centre in Kista, Sweden, provide a flexible, scalable and cost-effective solution with reduced R&D risk and future-proofed technology.

The first platform to launch this month is the S-track Nano, a compact self-install vehicle tracking device using the latest GNSS, 3G and Bluetooth technology.

The S-track Nano provides real-time tracking of a vehicle’s position, speed and acceleration using A-GPS and a 3-axis accelerometer. Vehicle diagnostics and driving statistics are continuously collected through the CAN interface and communicated over the cellular network.

The S-track Nano platform is ideal for vehicle tracking applications such as fleet management, vehicle leasing, usage-based insurance and crash detection. The hardware has been designed into a small package, which is an attractive feature for customers where space is typically limited. The device is around 70 per cent complete in terms of usability, which means it is possible to customise an IoT solution according to the customer’s requirement thus enabling the end solution to be developed much quicker than creating a solution from scratch. Speed to market is vastly improved, and customised IP is owned by the customer; strengthening their competitive advantage.

Kjell Karlsson, head of sales and engineering for Stadium Group commented: “We designed the S-track Nano following our vast history with OEM customers in the global transportation and vehicle telematics sector, however all of our platform solutions are universal. Customisation is key, and this is where we deliver on our expertise.”

As well as design-led technology solutions, Stadium provides global sourcing, manufacturing and fulfilment from dedicated operations in the UK and Asia.

Kjell added: “At Stadium we have the business model and competence to provide a true end-to-end solution, from concept right through to manufacture, test and fulfilment. Technology-led design centres, world-class manufacturing and fulfilment operations work in synergy to deliver global support and competitive solutions for our OEM customers. We believe this is what sets us apart and enables us to add true value to our customer’s product journey.”

Stadium’s connectivity business is driven from the division headquarters in Kista, Sweden, also the Group’s R&D hub for IoT technology design. The site employs a dedicated team of engineers, designers and commercial specialists highly experienced in antenna design, hardware development and the emerging vertical markets in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) space.

Further S-series platform devices are in development for other vertical markets, including an asset/cargo tracker, a BT sensor and an inventory control unit, and will be launched by Stadium during 2018.
