RS Components first in industry to scoop sales ethics accolade

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc, a global multi-channel distributor, has become the first organisation in its industry to achieve an Association of Professional Sales (APS) Investors in Sales Award, after more than 80 of its sales personnel successfully completed an exam in sales ethics to gain professional status.

RS joined the APS to cement its commitment to becoming first choice for customers in its market through the provision of a best-in-class salesforce.

Peter Malpas, managing director, Northern Europe at RS, said: “We have invested significantly in this exciting programme of learning and development with the APS – a journey to becoming first choice for our customers and demonstrating the importance of having a professional and ethical sales force. The Code of Ethics Exam is an assessment designed to test how sales professionals interact directly and indirectly with customers. This is an important factor for RS sales professionals in differentiating ourselves in the marketplace, and we are delighted to have achieved the APS Investors in Sales Award in recognition of this commitment.”

Ian Wearne, director of Learning & Development at RS, said: “We believe that in working with us, customers can have a different kind of conversation and gain access to a level of expertise, value and product offering that can make a real difference to their business. Core to this is the ongoing investment we make in best-in-class Learning & Development programmes.”

The APS supports, promotes and represents the sales profession, and is committed to improving the skills, knowledge and behaviour needed to be successful in sales.

Ben Turner, Co-CEO of the APS, said: “We’d like to congratulate the outstanding efforts of the sales professionals within RS Components. The sales leadership has put professional development at the core of their strategy, but it is the efforts and commitment of individuals to act professionally and ethically which is so exciting to see.

“The APS is proud to be working with a business that puts such emphasis on the quality of customer conversations. We are equally delighted to be recognising this with the Investors in Sales Award for these achievements.”

RS will continue to work alongside the APS to support its salesforce and ensure the ethics, skills, knowledge and behaviour are maintained, for the benefit of customers.
