Movenda and RealVNC launch remote management solution for mobile handsets
Published:  09 February, 2010

Movenda, a remote management platform provider, has announced that the latest version of its Mecum remote management system will be integrated with the VNC Mobile Solution from RealVNC, a developer of cross-platform remote control solutions. The new solution will be on display at next week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The new capability allows the Mecum system to show the screen of any mobile handset on the customer care agent’s desktop web browser and enables them to interact with and control the device as if it were in their hand, yet it can be in any global location.

“This new capability has been driven by demand from our mobile operator customer base,” said Marco Rossi, Founder & CEO, Movenda. “As more complex smartphone devices reach the market, mobile operators are struggling to provide full remote management and adequate customer support. VNC Mobile Solution addresses this issue by providing full device visibility to customer care representatives.”

Mecum is a remote device management system based on the developed according to the open standard protocols OMA Device Management (OMA DM) and OMA Client Provisioning (OMA CP). VNC Mobile Solution is an OEM package offering unique access to VNC technology, allowing partners to rapidly introduce advanced cross-platform mobile device remote control within their existing platforms.

Mobile device management is a generic term for the systems that can be used by or on behalf of users to configure, manage and upgrade applications and network access settings in mobile devices. The Movenda server provides Firmware Over–The-Air functionality according to Open Mobile Alliance FUMO 1.0 standard and the support of the newest standard for managing the lifecycle of remote software components according to OMA DM Software Components Management Object (SCOMO).
